You and I don't have a leg to stand on without Jesus Christ.

I am constantly trying to earn my salvation and righteousness. I tell myself "do this, do that, it will make Jesus love you more. Sure, you are saved by grace through faith, but some goods works sure couldn't hurt to earn me a few extra points could it?"

Instead of accepting God's gift of grace, I re-enslave myself by trying to justify myself on my own terms.

"I do believe! Help me over come my unbelief" (Mark 9:24)
