A [temporary] gift for myself.
Thanks to a couple of gift cards from Long & Mcquade and some hard earned cash from my pocket, I, Ryan Vandenhaak, have rented an upright bass for the period of 01/02/07 to 02/02/07.
As you can probably guess, I am a little bit excited. Now if only I could figure out how to play the thing...

FUN! I love musical gifts. : )
the fingering's a little bit funky on the left hand because it's a different angle, so that'll take some practice... the bowing is the hard part. You could always go jazz-musician and not use a bow at all....
yeah, i've been doing both (bow and plucking) quite a bit. It's pretty flippin fun. I suck at it but the sound that it makes is just so beautiful and haunting, no matter what I do it sounds great to me.
Yeah! uprights the way to go! so is jazz- but you knew that of course
